The Jersey Shore

First opened to vacationers in 1956 at the height of the Wildwoods' "Doo Wop" heyday, the Caribbean Motel was among the most daring, imaginitive structures to be built in the resort during that era of post-World War II optimism and leisure when everyone had one eye on the future and the other on dreams of exotic vacation destinations. The Caribbean rolled both of those fascinations into one with a motel that sported ultra-modern architectural elements like a futuristic "levitating" ramp, canted glass walls, and recessed "spaceship" lights along with "exotic" landscaping and theming including the very first plastic palm trees to be "planted" in the Wildwoods, giving vacationers the feeling of being in a far-away tropical paradise while only a short drive from home on the Jersey Shore.

Get back to the Fabulous 50's and Sixties for vintage Doo Wop. The rates are great and so is this property. Rock on!

New York

The Beekman Hotel is not just a New York landmark. It is among the finest hotel accommodations in the city. Built in 1928, the Beekman's distinctive tower is an art deco icon located a few short steps from the United Nations. Spacious suites reflect traditional styling, and many offer terraces and inspiring river views. The Top of the Tower, located on the 26th floor, has been a centerpiece of Manhattan nightlife for decades. The sophisticated cocktail lounge offers panoramic views of the New York skyline, and an amazing setting to spark romance, or after hour business.  It's my stay of choice in New York for location, spaciousness and most of all, it's cocktail lounge at the top of the hotel "Top of the Tower." I think it's the best kept secret in the City.

Sweden

Utter Inn (in English, Otter Inn) is an art project by Mikael Genberg which offers an underwater accommodation for the public. The facility is entered through a typical Swedish red house located on the surface of the water.

The guests of Utter Inn arrive at the port of Vasteras and are taken out one kilometre on Lake Malaren with an inflatable boat. After receiving all the instructions guests need, they are then left alone. If guests prefer deluxe accommodation, someone can deliver dinner by boat in the evening. Guests can use an inflateable canoe to visit the closest uninhabited island. Guests can also swim, sunbathe or watch the fish (from both upstairs and downstairs) at the hotel. It's a remarkable feeling to go to bed while the fish surround and watch you carefully.

Here's a great bohemian, charming, budget hotel in the heart of the Saint Germain quarter. The Hotel de Nesle (pronounced "Nell") has 20 rooms all painted with frescoes of different events and themes. They only take reservations by phone and may forget your conversation, but if you have a sense of humor, their memory returns. The price for a private bath is extra, so be sure and ask when you call. It's in a great location - within walking distance of the Louvre and there are loads of cafes nearby.
