Wildwood, New Jersey

The Jersey Shore loves nostalgia and here's just one more example. Kitschy, lively and fun - it's the  Summer Nites Bed and Breakfast.

Summer Nites is a 50's Theme Bed and Breakfast decorated in 1950’s furnishings and décor.

The owners of Summer Nites, Sheila and Rick Brown have taken a beautiful mid 1900’s home and created a building reminiscent of one back in the 1950’s. Summer Nites has all of the modern amenities enjoyed in a modern lodging while retaining and capturing the excitement and uniqueness of the early days of Rock-and-Roll. A stay at Summer Nites is like a step back into the 1950’s. Summer Nites is located in a quiet residential area of North Wildwood, New Jersey, at the Jersey Shore. The bustling night life of both Wildwood and Anglesea are within one mile in either direction.

While at Summer Nites you will dine in a unique box car diner complete with 1953 Seeburg Jukebox, neon lighting, diner booths and more. Or you may choose to dine on one of the outdoor decks. Breakfast is served from the diner kitchen where you can watch as the cook prepares breakfast. After breakfast you can stroll the world famous beach and boardwalk only two blocks from the premises. Bicycles are available for those who might enjoy a morning ride on the boardwalk or around town.

The Inn at Middleton Place

Charleston, SC

This place has it all!

Located just outside Charleston, SC, on the bluffs of the Ashley River, the Inn at Middleton Place offers relaxing accommodations in an atmosphere of unsurpassed natural beauty.

A recipient of the American Institute of Architects highest award, the Inn's design is a contemporary counterpoint to the adjacent 18th-century Middleton Place, America's oldest landscaped gardens, and a National Historic Landmark.

In addition to gracious sleeping-room accommodations, with scenic views and seasonal wood-burning fireplaces, guests of the Inn enjoy a wide range of educational experiences. The Middleton Place GardensHouse Museum, and Stableyards tell the story of one of America's most important families and the history of a thriving South Carolina rice plantation.  Middleton Outdoor Center's naturalists facilitate daily guided- and self-guided  walking, biking and kayaking tours of the woods, marsh and river. Take a stroll through the Cut-Flower Garden or find peace while visiting the Labyrinth.

Or just enjoy the breeze off the Ashley River while lying in a hammock...enjoying the serenity that is.

Meranova Guest Inn

Dunedin, Florida

I know most of you are wondering - where is Dunedin? Well, it's in Central Florida, bordered by Clearwater to the South and East, the Gulf of Mexico to the West and Palm Harbor to the North. It is  very close to one of the most beautiful beaches in Florida - Caladesi State Park. Dunedin is one of the most quaint and charming towns in the state. Stroll the streets for fine dining, art galleries and shops.
Sitting in the middle of the downtown area is the Meranova Guest Inn, which I toured and found to be lovely. The rates are reasonable, all suites have a private entrance and there is a heated pool. It sits across the street from a top notch restaurant, La Maison Gourmet owned by Chef John Lewis. Food was great and they have a wine bar, outdoor eating area and offer culinary classes as well.
Check it out!
