Just spent a romantic, peaceful five days at Canoe Bay. The drive from Minneapolis to the resort was about two hours of beautiful countryside (the convertible helped). The cabins are designed with a Frank Lloyd Wright flavor of sweeping horizontals and beautiful views, all of the lake. The food was spectacular, with breakfast delivered to your cabin. Dishes and your daily service needs, such as your choices for lunch, if you'll be at dinner, the next days breakfast selections, are picked up an hour later. I highly recommend the three egg omelette with lobster and hollandaise, and the pastries are still warm from the oven. Evening dinner is served at the Inn with tables seemingly perched over the lake water. A culinary feast with surprise treats between each course. The wine list is top-notch. There are hiking trails, canoes, and kyaks. We spent considerable time canoeing around the lake chasing loons. The landscaping in stunning but appears very natural, and there are wild flowers in abundance, deer frolicking in the meadow, and birds that sing just for the joy of singing. Service is impeccable. I will include a picture of the reception area where guest are first greeted. It will give you an idea of what's to come.
