My husband and I travelled for 20 days in Alaska and the Yukon in August 2007, in a summer the locals agreed was the best they'd seen in a decade--17 of our 20 days were sunny with 60-72 degree weather. We cruised from Vancouver to Seward on the Holland America ship ms Statendam with a veranda stateroom, and it couldn't have been better. We stopped in Ketchikan, Juneau and Skagway, and cruised into both Glacier Bay and College Fjord. Then we went on land with a Holland America tour from Anchorage to Denali to Fairbanks by train, by bus to the Yukon Territory border, then up the Yukon River to Dawson City by boat, and finally to Whitehorse by bus. We also panned for gold, took a guided bus tour of Denali National Park and saw lots of animals, and had a fantastic barbecue dinner after a wagon ride in Denali. We also took a helicopter ride over the Juneau Ice Fields, where we landed in a glacial ice field and mushed by dog sled with Alaskan huskies in their summer camp there. Alaska has so much to offer it's unbelievable. Everywhere you turn there's a new and different panoramic landscape, and the air is so clean and fresh it's truly invigorating. We've attached a couple of photos of College Fjord and Denali, two of our favorite places, but we have hundreds of other photos we can share. Miriam and Jerry
